A pet scan show a somwthing on the thyroid, is it cancer? what else could it be? A recient pet scan showed up the thryoid. A biopsy will be done There is a history of hodgekins and 2 breast cancers. Could it be anything other than cancer? |

Yeah several things, fats nodes or gobules, cysts, polyps, spurs, etc. Every blip isn't cancer. I understand your concern and it is totally valid but try being optimistic. No need to stress yourself out until all of the facts are known. Hell it could be a problem with the x-ray or the tech. A PMA - positive mental attitude-helps more than anything right now.

I know this can be really terrifying as the wait is always the hardest part of any diagnosis. My Mother had the same thing occur and when biopsied it was only a benign node on her thyroid. It does not cause her pain and there are no side effects for her condition. Yearly, she returns to the doctor to make sure the node has not grown substantially or changed drastically. She's had this node now for 10 years with no complications. Best of luck to you! Ali
