Can thyroid deficiency or too much thyroid cause pain in the hands?

My cousin has pain in the hands and her diagnosis was involving her thyroid. My son has pain in his hands (works hard with the hands) but still I'm curious if it might be related to thyroid.

Hypothyroidism can cause hand pain and swelling, and thyroid problems can run in families, so it might be prudent to have your son checked. Hand pain often is caused by repeated motion too, as in carpal tunnel.
