Hair loss

I've been experiencing hair loss for the last 8-10 months. So much so that I don't blow dry my hair any more because I end of with a sink full of hair. I am 65 and on thyroid medication. Even if I just curl my hair with a curling iron I loose 30+ hairs. Do you know of any reason why this should be happening. When I scratch the top of my head I get a burning sensation that I never had before. Thanks for your help.

Without benefit of knowing your medical history or any medications that you may be taking other than for your Thyroid, I can only advise you to have this evaluated by your physician..Often times when an individual has a hormonal deficiency, this can lead to hair loss...Particularly the Thyroid Hormone (TSH).This is a symptom of something that is going on..You need to find the root cause before it can be treated . I certainly feel like Lab Studies are in order....I hope this was abit helpful...Please, post again if you have further questions or concerns..Keep us posted...Good Luck to you and God Bless..

Most of the times, the root cause for hair loss is stress. Meditation can help in reducing that and restore hormonal balance.

Vitamin A is an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation.

Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage. Try rubbing your hair with rangoli henna. You can heat olive oil to apply it on your scalp at least 30 minutes before you wash your hair. The best is to leave it over night.
