High Blood Pressure

Hi, I am 38 years old female (unmarried) and have a family history of high bp and am also having hypo-thyroid. I was detected of high bp in Feb 2009 with 140/90. My doctor adviced me to change lifestyle, eating habbits, cut down on alcohol and daily morning walks.

I have followed his instructions and it showed results. My BP and Thyroid are both controlled my weight has also gone down from 73kgs to 65kgs but sometimes, i feel an elevated pulse rate (mostly in mornings) and yesterday night, while tyring to sleep, i felt dizzy with an elevated pulse rate...!

Please let me know if i have to still go on medication because whenever i get my bp checked (mostly in evenings), it comes 110/70 or 120/80.

Also, i want to know that will this bp problem rise with age even after continuous walking and all remedies!?

Eat more fresh foods. Fruits, vegetables and unprocessed grains contain little sodium. Avoid alcohol consumption.

Avoid tobacco products and secondhand smoke..Drinking caffeinated beverages can temporarily cause a spike in your blood pressure. And some studies show that people who drink caffeine regularly have a higher average blood pressure, suggesting that caffeine might have a long-term impact.

Reduce your stress.Get regular health care.Visit your doctor regularly.

Talk to your family and friends about the dangers of high blood pressure. If they understand the potential complications of uncontrolled high blood pressure, they're more likely to support your efforts to change unhealthy lifestyle habits. Be happy. Take care yourself. If you need any helps, don't hesitate to know me.

Regular physical activity — at least 30 to 60 minutes most days of the week — can lower your blood pressure by 4 to 9 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). And it doesn't take long to see a difference. If you've been sedentary, increasing your activity can lower your blood pressure within just a few weeks.

You must reduce sodium in your diet. But in this situation, YOU MUST TOTALLY AVOID TAKING SALT IN YOUR FOODS.
