How to know when to put my Mom in a nursing home? My Mom has diabetes (on insulin shots 2x daily), heart blockage, arthritis, kidney problems, low blood count, no thyroids, & problems walking. She doesn’t exercise & eats whatever she wants. It’s to the point that she needs a walker, falls down & can’t get back up, can’t shop for herself, & needs a ride everywhere. She refuses to try to do any better & is physically deteriorating. She’s only 63 & takes a lot of medicine. What should I do with her? Is it time to put her in a nursing home? |

Well Ive not had that experience with a parent but Have however seen it happen with others. Idk if you've considered having a home nurse care for your mom through out the day or not but it can be very helpful . She will have her midications given to her and all other needs attended too but have the comfort of her own home rather than a nursing home. Just a thought. Good Luck

Tinla I made the right call for my mother and yours would be much better off in the rest home and you would do her a favor by getting her the help she needs and being around the clock care and being with others of this nature at this time and dont feel one bit bad because the problems she has are a time consuming thing for you and the nurses and care givers at the rest homes know about the care that she needs and can maybe help her get the will to live again and the diet will be what is good for her and walking will come back and i was affected by the constant health of my mother and seeing the same conditions myself it was a good day when mom went to the rest home and she really loved IT there after 3 to 4 days and the medications are given on time and all the worry that you have right now will be cut in half but you will have a whole lot of help in the physical part and young ladies are much more able to give the care then us and they play games and talk to each other and visit all the time and music and its just a much better place and they are not alone any time but can rest when they want and get the care that they need and i think its time to let go and help your mother this way as well as yourself and family.
