I get an adrenaline rush feeling in my chest Within 15 minutes of rolling over to go to sleep, I will get an intense adrenaline rush type feeling in my chest. It literally makes me feel anxious. Generally, it lasts for 30 seconds or less, but it wakes me all the way up and I have to start the preparation to sleep process all over again.

Feeling in your chest . I will tell you right now that this is panic attacks starting , i know this feeling myself . There is one thing to do for this , get on a medication . Please don't try to fight this by yourself ,this needs some help. I know you say to me you don't know what you are talking about, but i do . I have the same problems and i take paxil 40 M/G for this same thing . The medicine helps me be normal again , i don't have to deal with this junk no more. This will be hard on you ,unless you are willing to get the help you need . Go now and get ahead of this, panic attacks will strike any time, any where, to any one. This wont go away ,it will get worse ,the get help and get better. There are many good med out there for this , you don't have to take what i take, but just try and get the one for you.

I am 42 years old (male) and I have had this exact sensation, during the transition into sleep since my late twenties. I have been diagnosed with RLS, but this chest sensation is very rare for RLS sufferers. Sometimes it is in addition to uncontrolable twitching and jerking of my limbs, other times it seems to be in place of, very unusual for it to happen while I am awake and alert. I have been to so many doctors, but none of them can tell me what would cause it!

I have been seeing my doctor now for a long time. I have had a pain in my left rib area for absolute years, they never have come up with anything, less i have a hiatus hernia. In the last while thow Ihave been feeling my chest sore when i sneeze and around the circomforance of my oxter. I waken with the soreness in my oxter area in the morning. I have been feeling a spasmatic feeling in the middle of my chest when i eat, which is worrying me, as that is new, I really do feel like all these new symtems are from the pain in my ribs I have had for yrs, and nothing been done about it. I feel my front chest sore now,I am scared I have a infection in that cardiovasculare area, i feel worried that they are not taking this serious enough. I would like a deep scan of my body And I feel i deserve nothing but the best from the National Health. I am sick with worry now, and this is yrs of fighting my health. I feel if I would have been looked at to begin with maybe I would not be as ill as I feel today. I had terrible shocking pains in around my rib areas, sometimes threw to my back sometimes in my right rib, and then left...I also feel very sick on occassion...needless to say i am scared..I feel a rush up my middle chest to now....

Are you under chronic stress? There are stress hormones such as cortisol that can cause a reaction like the one you are describing. Sometimes, stress can be difficult to recognize on a conscious level. You may be stressed by certain factors in your life and not be aware of it because you are too busy with daily life activities to think about what is going on internally. Examine your life and your lifestyle and consider some possibilities that may be causing you unrecognized stress. Is there something you can change or limit?
You might try some relaxation techniques or therapy. Your doctor may also be able to prescribe an anti-anxiety medication which can help control your symptoms if it is chronic stress or panic disorder.
Hope you can get this under control soon. Be sure to discuss this with your doctor.

I had this same problem for a couple weeks and got rid of it about a month ago. My problem was caused by anxiety and things I couldnt get off my mind. I looked all over the web and found alot of people with the same problem but nobody had a real solution. They all talked about going to a psychiatrist and getting meds. I went to the doctor and got sleeping pills that would knock me out but I would wake up about 1-2 hours later with cold sweat. The only way I was finally able to get a peacefull nights sleep was after I returned and strengthened my faith in Jesus. Ever since I started putting all my faith in Him and started seving Him instead of myself I have slept like a baby and have never felt better. It did not happen overnight though. He doesnt work by making you feel better right away because He doesnt want you to live by feelings. You have to live by faith and keep asking Him for you want and He will give it to you. I was up for over a week straight with at most 2 hours of sleep a night and 0 most nights. I even started getting delirious and couldnt think straight. I never went to a psychaitrist and only took sleeping pills for two nights that didnt really help me sleep. I am convinced that it is the devil that causes things like this and the only way to fight him is through the Lord. A good book that can help (other than the Bible) is Power Thoughts by Joyce Meyer. I hope this will help someone who is going through the same problem to finally get over it and be able to sleep in heavenly peace.

The simple term for your situation is your heart skipping a beat and this is extremely common. The technical term for it is tachycardia and that means your body is putting out a surge of hormones and your heart is reacting to it. Most people get a bloom of sensation when the serotinin and oxytocin hormones along with melatonin release into the blood and course through the blood stream. Sometimes adrenaline or ephinephrine can also be released and the heart beats faster for a few minutes and then calms down.
You can take a very deep breath and hold it and then bear down a bit. This resets the heart. If you have high blood pressure, do not bear down, just hold your breath for about 20 seconds, exhale slowly and repeat. A great book on dealing with anxiety is hope and help for your nerves by dr. Clare weeks. Google it. Read it, deal with your situation! Best of luck!

Seriously, I find talking about my problem with anxiety makes things a lot better but only when I'm getting positive answers, negative feed back about it makes me feel a lot worse about things, iv taken plenty of drugs and not the good kinds I took them more for recreational use wich I'm not proud of cos it also affected my anxiety, iv literally only just got this like 2weeks ago from the 6/2/2012 and have already been given medication from my doctor and have realised talking about it with people you can trust helps an awful lot, you'll feel better whilst talking about but then not so good when your done but if you put your mind to it you can make yourself feel good all the time by being positive, sometimes its over whelming and makes you feel dizzy but only because you suddenly realise your absolutely fine and then remember your used to feeling bad all the time if that makes sense to you, this is all linked to that rush you get before sleep, you feel fine to the point were you drift off to sleep then something in your head will suddenly tell you 'wow I'm okay' and oull get a sudden shock and feel bad again, this is the case with me anyway and its all mind over matter. Thinl positive and positive things will happen, stop worrying and it will calm down. Might think how does this guy know he's only had it a few weeks but I was held at gun point beaten up and robbed in my mates flat and its made me scared to do absolutely everything that I usually like to do, it might take a while to get to grips with what I'm saying but I reckon it wil work and deffinatley makes me feel so much better, I hope iv helped it the first time iv posted anything like this and could probably go on with it all day but I'm stopping all this now and hope you can to. ste-ashall2011@hotmail.co.uk Email adress, tell me if its helped you or not please.
