Interpretation of Thyroid Ultrasound

I got the following print out without much else to tell me what this means in plain English.

Findings:
Large heterogeneous, predominantly hypoechoic thyroid gland with scattered internal linear echogenicities. No definite thyroid nodule seen.

Right thyroid lobe measures 6.9 x 2.5 x 2.6 cm.

Prominent isthmus measures 1.5 cm in thickness.

Left thyroid lobe measures 2.5 x 6.6 x 2.4 cm.

It essentially means your thyroid is perfectly normal: not symmetrical, no nodes apparent, and the isthmus, or center "line" is normal width. It sounds as though your doc may be doing some studies to determine thyroid disease? If the blood tests were inconclusive and this test appears normal, he may proceed to an MRI. Good luck

I actually went to an endocrinologist yesterday and he told me I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
