Is there reason for him to be STD tested?

I just turned 19 and am a virgin. My boyfriend is 23 and has slept with five girls previously. It's been a year since he last had sex with his ex, who was also a virgin. Nothing seems to be wrong with him STD-wise, but I asked him if he would be willing to take a test and he agreed. He gets his blood tested for thyroid problems every two months. Would that show if he was HIV/AIDS positive or negative? Or is that a completely other test because I know the symptoms don't show up within years. Also, would it be worthwhile to have him tested anyways? Even though everything seems to appear fine. Nothing is abnormal and never has been. And he says that his ex was tested after they had sex and she was fine. Should I have him tested or would it be a waste of time and money? Thank you, I really appreciate it.

If he has already said he is willing to get tested the hart part is over. The uncomfortable situation of asking him to do it is over. So yes have him tested its the smartest thing you can do. And have him get an HIV test while he is getting his other lab work done. Its just best to be smart and once it done it done and you can rest assured you were responsible. You still should be using protection regardless of the results.

A lot of STDs can go undetected because they don't cause any symptoms. The only way to know for sure that he doesn't have any is for him to get tested.

When ever blood tests are done, specific tests have to be ordered to look for different things. So even if he's having blood tests done to check thyroid levels, they wouldn't be looking to see if he has HIV. Likewise, even if his ex tested negative, you don't know exactly what she was tested for (she may have tested negative for HIV, but not been tested at all for chlamydia). The best thing to do is to do is have him tested. If cost is a concern, planned parenthood offers testing for a reduced price.

Tests are free at a local college, you don't even need a college ID. sometimes they have them at malls.

don't worry about it though, they are different tests completely, but it actually against the law to lie about certain STD's. It is considered attempted murder for someone to have sex with a non hiv person without telling them previous.

He can get tested if you so wish it, never a waste of money, you can get it from a cut at work in the wrong circumstances.
