Lithuim Is 30 years to long to take? I am bipolar I have been taking lituim for almost 30 years. I have had blood test every 6 months . I have had eye problems, thyroid problems and now vertigo, twitches. I am conceerned about multiple scerosis? An also if it would be better to find something equal to take instead of lithuim? I don't get the answers from my own dr. Also I had shock theapy in 1976. |

Lithium is still being used for bipolar disease. However, there are newer medications available. Maybe your doctor is satisfied with the results over the years, or maybe he doesn't want to think about it. Your newer symptoms may not have any relationship to the use of lithium, but may be something different. Your medical doctor should evaluate this; that might be someone other than your psychiatrist.
