Should I take a Thyroid supplement when on Synthroid?

I"m currently taking Synthroid .112 for my Thyroid and I'm about 20 pounds over weight. Someone recommend the Transitions Lifestyle System Weight Management system but I will need to take a Thyroid supplement and I'm worried about taking it. My Thyroid has been regular while on Synthroid and I'm worried how this supplement will effect my Thyroid. Will it be safe to do this?

No, you are already on a thyroid replacement, the Synthroid. You would mess up the level of T3 and T4 in you blood. Perhaps this thyroid supplement is some iodine? You already have enough in your diet through normal food.

No additional iodine nor kelp should be taken while on Synthroid as noted. Thyroid hormone OTC is not available. Actually while hypothyroidism tends toward gaining weight & hyperthroidism, toward losing weight, there's no evidence that more or less iodine in the diet has comparable effect. In additon two common thyroid conditions, Graves disease & Hashimoto's thyroiditis have nothing to do with iodine.
