As with any weight issue, also with thyroid problem you need to eat enough calories to lose your weight. Yes, I mean what I said. If you drop calories in your diet too low, you will lower your metabolism and turn your body into a "save" mode when you won't lose a pound.

First off, limit the intake of high glycemic foods such as:
beets
carrots
corn
parsnips
peas
potatoes
turnips
bananas
grapes
oranges
pineapple
raisins
papaya
watermelon
white bread, bagels, rolls
baked goods
sugar
white rice
pasta semolina
refined flour products (crackers, pretzels).

Next, make sure to get sufficient amounts of iodine that is critical for the optimal thyroid function. Iodine is most common in fish, seaweed, shellfish, and iodized salt.

Moreover, increase your metabolic rate with adequate protein intake by eating lean protein, such as , white meat poultry, fish, egg whites, legumes, and lean cuts of beef.

At last, but not least, take care to provide sufficient vitamins such as Zinc and Selenium.

I have hypothyroidism and if your thyroid deficiency is not being controlled with a thyroid replacement hormone, it will be difficult for you to lose weight. The thyroid imbalance will slow all bodily functions, including your metabolic rate, (the rate at which you burn calories). If you are having problems, a doctor should be consulted if possible.

Walking 3 miles a day will be helpful in that it will temporarily speed up your metabolism. A healthy, balanced diet is needed. Eating several small meals a day is better than large meals. By doing so your blood sugar level is more stable and your body will not go into "starvation mode" from not eating often enough, (which slows your metabolism further).

A diet that has moderate levels of lean protein with low unhealthy carbohydrates is recommended. Avoid sweets/refined sugar, white flour products, soft drinks, potatoes in excess. Healthy foods would include lean meats, chicken, fish, no-fat dairy products, unlimited low calorie vegetables, fresh fruit (in moderation), whole grains (in moderation). A multi-vitamin/mineral supplement may be taken as well to insure your nutritional needs are being met.

Try to eat a small amount within 1 hour of getting up in the morning and every 4 hours or so thereafter. I do wish you well on your weight loss plan and hope you meet your goals.

I do take 112mg levothyroide.....but now that i read your comments i think im eating to much fruit...i didnt think that was possible....i will try to cut back...thanxs

You are welcome piglet83. For the record, I take 112 mcg levothyroxine as well. If your thyroid hormone level is regulated, you will be able to lost the weight. I originally thought you were trying to lose weight without having the hormone deficiency treated, (which would be extraordinarily difficult). Too much fruit could be causing you to have difficulty losing weight, (I crave it too). The problem is the high sugar content, (particularly in bananas, which I avoid). In moderation, they are okay. Good luck and best wishes.
