Weight Loss

I eat as healthy as I know how. I do not eat any fried foods. I rarely eat out and when I do it is chicken breast, baked or grilled and salad. I am overweight by about 20-25 pounds. I have been diagnosed with Thyroid Disorder, Fibromyalga, and Osteoarthritis. I am in pain all of the time and so therefore do not feel like exercising. So what else can I do? I do not want to be overweight.

Your thyroid is probably why you are obver wight you have to tell your self and i know thats hard to do but you need a colon cleanse first then weather you want to or not you need to walk alot everyday i know it probably sounds like the end of the world it isn't losing weight will take time once you gain it its hard to get rid of but if you tell your self i can do this you probably will

You are doing things right -- eating well. I know it is a struggle to exercise when you have chronic severe pain as with arthritis and fibromyalgia. Do you think you could manage a walk 2 - 3 times a day? My doctor told me, that is the healthiest cardio and will help shed pounds as well as improve mobility (because it speeds your metabolism and strengthens the muscles, hence saving the joints excessive wear) when you walk throughout the day. You would have to take it easy at first, make your walks moderate in speed and length but work up to a brisk walk for 20 - 30 minutes 2 to 3 times a day.

If you can't get outdoors I want to recommend an exercise dvd called Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds, Power Mile (one mile walk). Believe me, I am no exerciser and this is the only exercise dvd I can handle.

I lost 22 lbs by doing what you're doing -- eating right and taking my doctor's suggestion about the walking.

About your thyroid, did you doctor suggest any medication. My cousin had thyroid disorder and when she was put on medication, she lost a ton of weight.

I gained 30-35 pounds during chemo a year and a half ago, then I developed a thyroid disorder (Hypothyroidism) after completing radiation therapy! I've had a lot on my plate the last couple of years and now losing the weight is a priority. I was given medication for the thyroid problem, but it's not helping me lose weight at all. I try and exercise but I don't often enough.

I've never really dieted before as I was never overweight before cancer kicked my butt! However, I decided to give Nutrisystem a try and I started January 3rd. I've lost 9 pounds so far - not bad for 35 days. The food isn't the greatest, but some is very good. What's good is that it has taught me about portion size - I never would have thought that all I need is what these portion sizes are, but it works and I'm not hungry!

I decided to publish my progress online because I thought it would help keep me accountable and motivate me and it's working so far. I published the first 30 days and will only do updates after that. I reviewed all the meals I ate in the articles. If you're interested in reading more, here's a link to to day 1: http://hubpages.com/hub/Diet-Delivery-Nutrisystem- My-Weight-Loss-Plan

Hope this helps. Hang in there - I know how hard it can be! I have 30 more pounds to go...

Try this..
Drink 1-2 quarts of unflavored lemonade in the mornings to balance the chemical reactions within the body and to restore it to an alkaline state. Cut all unnecessary calories from your diet. Move more. Cleaning the house can help you lose weight if you do it with a passion.

Divide your daily calories into several small meals. Balancing meals with a 40-30-30 proportion of vegetables, grains, and proteins also helps, as the body will get the proper fuel it needs to work for a longer period of time.

Skipping meals, especially breakfast, does not help to lose weight. In fact, people who skip meals tend to overeat later in the day. Drinking water can help you lose weight in two different ways.
