What is gynecomastia in a three year old boy with high prolactin levels? My son endocrinologist wants to do a mri . He is only 3 years old and he has high prolactin levels. And the thyroid test they did id find. Plus they said he has gynecomastia. |

OK this is the development of abnormally large mammary glands in males resulting in breast enlargement and this can come from the large majority of boys whose pubescent gynecomastia is not due to obesity, the breast development shrinks or disappears within a couple of years.The causes of common gynecomastia remain uncertain, although it has generally been attributed to an imbalance of sex hormones or the tissue responsiveness to them;
