Well it depends if they are going to take it out they have to find out about prior health history to make sure everything goes right how much anestias to use blood work, make sure you are heathy enough for the surgery no colds shave area in case their is hair give something to keep a person calm making sure all medical history blood work and other things are with it range cardio meaning heart is good for surgery also keeping track of vitals

You will probably have to take a blood test a week or two prior to the procedure. You will be given a set of instructions on what to do before surgery---usually you are instructed not to eat anything after a certain time the night before the surgery.

When you go to the hospital, you'll change into a hospital gown, and lots of people will ask you the same questions over and over----what you're in for, what your symptoms have been, whether you have had anesthesia before, if you are allergic to any drugs, etc. This is to make sure that all the information they have about you is accurate and complete, and to ensure a smooth and safe surgery. The anesthesiologist will introduce himself or herself, and ask you more questions. The surgeon will also come in to talk with you before surgery.

Then you will have to sign some papers saying that you understand the surgery and its risks.

Then, they will put an IV line in you, which they will use to give you the anesthetic to put you to sleep.
If you've never had one, don't worry---it's not bad at all, just a small needle prick, and when the line is in you won't feel anything at all.

When it's time to go to surgery, they put you on a gurney (just like on TV!) and wheel you down the hall. When they start sedating you, it goes to work in seconds.

If they are going to intubate you, they would most likely do it after you are unconscious. And usually they take the tube out before you wake up, so you won't have any recollection of it at all, although your throat may feel a little dry and raspy.

Good luck! Hope everything goes well for you.

And thank you for your question.
