With no thyroids, is 150 mcg levoxal enough? My wife had both thyroids removed. She takes 150 mcg levoxal. Should she take more? |

That depends. How much Levoxyl it takes to maintain normal functioning depends on the individual, and this can change within the same individual. For many people 0.15 mcg is enough, other people may need more. She needs to have her thyroid function checked once a month and her medication adjusted accordingly. After it is stable for 3 months, it is okay to wait 3 months to have it checked again, and then every 6-12 months after that.
